Team selection: eight Senior Boys, four Junior Boys and two Elite Girls were selected for the 2011 Lancaster Team.
The Lancaster County Junior Tour is proud to announce that Josh Burg and Austin Wolf were Co-Captains of the 2011 Junior War of the Roses. The Junior War of the Roses was contested at Regents Glen on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
Tournament Director's comments - 2011 Junior War of the Roses & End of the Season:
The Lancaster and York junior golfers were greeted by absolutely beautiful August weather – bright sunshine and low humidity, making walking 36 holes less physically demanding. So the weather was relatively cool, but the competition was hot, as both organizations’ junior golfers locked in some great matches. Lancaster prevailed for the eighth straight time, which is a win for every time this event has been held.
Some of the top moments/efforts of the day were: Walker Kirk, one of four Junior Boys Division golfers, made his first ace, on the par 3 third hole. That was the first hole-in-one in the history of the JrWoR competition. What can you say? It’s in the jar! Great shot! Both Haley Goodling and Walt Pelensky, who were 3-down in the early going, in their singles matches, stormed back to win those matches. They never thought of quitting! Great effort! And while we are talking about girls, our girls, Haley and Mary Beth Palic, won all four of their points. Last year, our girls lost all their points, so this was a huge turn-around, and got the team off to a great start, in the morning and again in the afternoon. Outstanding!

I’ll be honest, I had a lot of doubt going into this year’s JrWoR. We lost a tremendous amount of golf talent, especially in the Senior Boy’s Division, that graduated this past spring, and were ineligible for LCJGT play this summer. But our golfers stepped up, and improved their game, and those results were evident on Thursday. This ‘young’ JrWoR team, we only will lose 3 of these golfers for next year, improved tremendously, through their own hard work and desire to get better. With the on-course help of our two co-captains, Josh Burg and Austin Wolf, and the efforts of our golfers, the results were outstanding. Way to go, Lancaster!
